Gradara and Events

Gradara is a medieval village that lies between the hills of the Marche region and the coast of Romagna. Because of its happy location, its proximity to the sea and cities of important cultural significance, Gradara is one of the most lively and visited villages in Italy.

The Rocca, a symbol of the city in which members of the most important families of the Middle Ages (Malatesta, Sforza, Borgia and Della Rovere) lived, is surrounded and protected by walls that are still passable.

"Amor, ch'a nullo amato amar perdona, mi preso del costui piacer così forte, che, come vedi, ancora non m'abbandona." Dante Alighieri dedicated some of the most representative verses of The Divine Comedy to Paolo Malatesta and Francesca da Rimini.

Over the centuries Gradara has distinguished itself for its beauty by receiving numerous awards: Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, Orange Flag, Village of Villages.

Numerous events take place in the village: The Magic Castle, Siege of the Castle, Historical Reenactments and much more.
